About Me

Tien Nguyen

My practice is professional and confidential. Respect and an openness to diversity and differences is an important part of my therapeutic process. I listen to the story of every individual attentively as everyone is unique and different and everyone is special.

My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is both psychodynamic and insight-oriented which means I encourage the development of self-awareness to understand the unconscious dynamic of the behaviours, thoughts, and feelings in the present that could be rooted in the past. I will Journey with you to explore your family history issues, insecure attachment, and unresolved trauma using the attachment lens and psychodynamic approach to help free you from the bondage of these chains so that you may live more fully.

I offer both short and long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (in-person and online). I deliver sessions in both English and Vietnamese.

I completed my BSc in psychology at St. Mary’s University Twickenham, a Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of London, and a DipCert in trauma therapy. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and I have been trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and trauma to work with adults.

I have been working in a variety of settings: such as prisons, hospitals, safe houses, youth centres, homeless centres, NHS talking therapy, mental health counselling centres, mental health coaches, and facilitating many intercultural workshops.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by BACP professional standards and codes of ethics.
